Like nuts, fruit makes a wonderful accompaniment to all kinds of chocolate. Now that spring is here, it’s time to try some new combinations that are light and refreshing. Here are a few fresh ideas!
Fruit and Darker Chocolate
The sweetness or tartness of fruit and berries can be a nice counterpoint to the smoothness and sometimes bitterness of dark chocolate. It all depends on what strikes your fancy. Try some classic combinations such as coconut, raspberry, and orange with dark chocolate. These cream fillings can be delicious and surprising and definitely satisfying. The richness of dark chocolate also contrasts with milk chocolate. Which one do you prefer?
Fruit and Milk Chocolate
The addition of milk makes the chocolate sweeter and creamier; there are lots of combinations of fruit and milk chocolate that you can treat yourself to the next time you have a craving. Coconut truffles make a wonderful treat, as do chocolate covered raisins.
Even if you aren’t a huge fan of raisins on their own, you might like them in other treats like raisin custard buns, and milk chocolate covered raisins are just as tasty as peanuts or almonds covered in milk or dark chocolate as well. You can’t overlook the iconic pairing of chocolate with strawberries and bananas. You often see fruit mixed in with ice cream and frozen yogurt, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that it’s just as tasty in a handy handheld snack that you can top with whipped cream or other toppings that you enjoy!
