How to Create a Playful Dessert Buffet for your Wedding

Delicious wedding tableYour wedding is one of the most exciting days of your life. It is a celebration of happiness and love that you get to spend with those closest to you. While wedding cakes are the traditional choice for desserts, more and more couples are choosing sweet alternatives to cakes. One great choice that is taking the wedding world by storm is dessert buffets. A dessert buffet allows each of your guests to create their own unique dessert based on their individual interests.

Pick your candy

Candy options are truly endless, and choosing the right treats for your buffet will likely be the most difficult task you face with this project. Most professionals suggest choosing eight to ten different candies to satisfy any sweet tooth. When you work with Wockenfuss, you can combine different flavors of chocolate truffles, nonpareils, fudges, gummies, caramel apples, lollipops, Jordan almonds, jelly beans, licorice, and more. Make sure you take dietary restrictions into consideration. Consider gluten-free and vegan candies, or slightly less sweet options for the health conscious. Think about how different options might be arranged in order to create an appealing, fun, and decorative look. Color coordination can be a fun and easy way to dress-up your buffet.

Determine amounts

First decide whether or not you will allow guests the opportunity to take some candy home. If this is your plan, purchase about eight ounces of candy per guest. This way, you’ll ensure that everyone has enough to eat, and enough to take as a favor. Otherwise, many candy shops recommend about three to four ounces of candy per guest. Remember that too much candy is never a problem, but too few can be troublesome.

Design a spectacular table

Your candy buffet display will come together with the perfect containers. A wedding is no time to use any boring plastic bucket for display. Choose some elegant crystal or glassware to show-off your delicious offerings. Choose pretty serving spoons and tongs, and arrange your candies in an appealing yet accessible way. You can really have fun tailoring your display to match the theme of your wedding. Imagine how you would design a wedding cake for your celebration, and use that idea to inspire your table of tasty sweets. Play with colors, textures, sparkle, ribbons, and flowers. Your dessert table doesn’t have to be as serious as some of the other aspects of a wedding.
