Chocolate Sales are on the rise, proving the Candy is as popular as ever!

Chocolate SalesChocolate: it is rich, it is creamy, and it is delicious. Everyone loves chocolate. That is why it is a staple of every major holiday. When you wake up on Christmas morning, what is in your stocking? Chocolate. When you rush down stairs to check your Easter basket, what do you find? Chocolate. When you receive a gift from that special someone on Valentine’s Day, what do you get? Flowers…and chocolate.

It is no wonder that chocolate sales are on the rise. According to Euromonitor International, chocolate sales are expected to rise by 8 percent in North America and 12 percent globally, outperforming all other confectionery products by 2018. Sugar and gum sales, meanwhile, are forecast to grow 8.5 percent and 10 percent, respectively.

“[Chocolate’s] value growth is being driven by a number of factors, for example health innovation, more visible branding strategies, certification, sophisticated packaging or simply a taste for indulgence,” said Euromonitor International senior food analyst Francisco Redruello.
